WRITTEN AND DIRECTED BY ELISE CHATAURET - BABEL THEATRE COMPANYTuesday 25 August 2020, at 9.30 pm Fort Antoine

Fort Antoine is set to host the cultural highlight of the summer in the Principality. The traditional venue for summer events, this year the site will be celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of its open-air theatre. To mark the occasion, the Prince’s Government is offering a series of free public performances, subject to available places (to book, please contact the Princess Grace Theatre ticket office*).

As part of the fiftieth anniversary celebrations, the Department of Cultural Affairs is organising two distinct special programmes. The Principality’s iconic cultural institutions will be in the spotlight from 8 July to 7 August, while the traditional theatre season will resume from 18 August to 4 September 2020.

This is the story of Saint-Félix, a tiny French village.

Elise Chatauret, author and director, takes us on a journey into this small rural world, a mix of documentary investigation and theatrical fiction. Through interviews with around thirty people from the village over a period of months, four actors highlight the many issues facing these country communities: identity, difference, modernisation of agriculture, the rural exodus…

The actors play both the investigators and residents, on a set that they build themselves and which gradually becomes an "animated" postcard.
The performance offers the audience a fascinating insight into a world that is all at once poetic, funny, and delicate.
