"Flora Magnifica" Exhibition at Monaco Exotic Garden

The Salle Marcel Kroenlein (Marcel Kroenlein Room) is hosting an exhibition devoted to botanical illustration until 27 August 2014

Monaco Media Library and Monaco Exotic Garden, in conjunction with Monaco Art School - Pavillon Bosio (ESAP), are presenting "Flora Magnifica," which is on show at the Exotic Garden in the Salle Marcel Kroenlein from 2 July to 27 August 2014.

This exhibition on the theme of botanical illustration depicts the evolution of botanical illustration from the birth of modern botany in the 18th century.  It covers all the various techniques used (watercolours, drawings, photography, etc.) and the reasons for their use.  It also includes Monegasque and regional botanists, such as Etienne Clerissi, Jean-Baptiste Barla and Honoré Ardoïno.

The exhibition is based on documents from Monaco Media Library's Regional Collection and the specialist library at Monaco Exotic Garden.  Images take pride of place, of course, while the information needed to understand the subject is summarised in short texts.

The poster for the exhibition was designed by first-year students from the Pavillon Bosio.
