Monte-Carlo SBM Announces a Concert by Singer Lana Del Rey

The American pop icon will perform on stage in a major concert at the Opéra Garnier on Saturday 4 May 2013 at 8.30 pm.

Lizzy Grant created her stage name "Lana Del Rey" by combining the first name of Hollywood actress Lana Turner with "Chevrolet Delray," the American car of the 1950s.  The singer-songwriter shot to fame in the music world just over a year ago with her song "Video Games."

Lana Del Rey is both adored and detested.  She is influenced by the atmosphere of David Lynch's feature films and the soundtracks of 50s films, and writes songs with cinematic references in a tone that is curt yet sensitive.

With her retro look and steamy, sensual voice, she is a self-styled "gangster Nancy Sinatra," describing herself as a Lolita lost in a ghetto.

Her album "Born to Die," was a runaway success, and led to two hit songs, "Video Games" and "Blue Jeans."  The album is a mixture of black genres, with a touch of glam pop and soul.  The album was rereleased with eight additional tracks in 2012, under the name of "Paradise."  It includes two new singles, "Ride" and "Black Velvet."
