The Monte-Carlo Sporting Summer Festival from 6 July to 19 August 2013

The biggest names will perform at the Salle des Etoiles this summer

The Sporting Summer Festival has become a benchmark event because of its varied programme, and is an international mecca for music.

Jean René Palacio, its Artistic Director, wanted this year's Festival to pay tribute to the celebrations for 150th anniversary of the SBM.

American superstar Rihanna, who was named top pop artist of the past 20 years by the American magazine Billboard, will give two special concerts on 10 and 11 July.

Rod Stewart will embark on a resolutely rock tour to mark the release of his new album "Time," which will showcase his latest work.  He will perform in Monaco on 6 and 7 July.  Another "British touch" is a special concert by Sir Elton John on 24 July.

There will also be concerts by Barbara Hendricks, Carlos Santana, Roger Hodgson, co-founder of the legendary group Supertramp, Michael Bolton, Mister Joe Cocker, Deep Purple, famous for "Smoke on the Water," the iconic trio Crosby, Stills & Nash, Elvis Costello & The Imposters, and others.

The SBM is also offering some other major shows this summer:  "Spirit of the Dance," which is based on tap dancing techniques and "The Monte-Carlo Rat Pack," which will recreate the famous shows given in the 1960s by famous crooners Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin.  Also expected are Michel Sardou, Garou and Mika and for Italian audiences, Eros Ramazzotti at the Red Cross Gala, Biagio Antonacci, Baglioni and tenor Roberto Alagna with his show "Little Italy."
