Take advantage of the

If you reach Monaco from the mountains and the
village of La Turbie, you can stop to admire the Trophy of Augustus, erected
over 2,000 years ago. Then, you can follow the road made famous by Grace Kelly
and Cary Grant in Hitchcock’s To Catch a
Thief, as they picnic while admiring the view over the Principality. Then,
once in Monaco, you can begin your stay at Hôtel Fairmont Monte-Carlo (****).
The valet will take care of your vehicle to let you settle quickly in your room
with a terrace from which to admire Italy on your left, France on your right
and Monaco at your feet.
For your first exotic evening, go to the Gaia
restaurant to sample their Mediterranean cuisine of Greek inspiration. The
‘blue hour’ is the time for a few minutes stroll to the French border, where
you can have fun moving freely from one country to the other on the few metres
separating Monaco from Roquebrune-Cap-Martin (in France), somewhere between the
Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort (****) and the Monte-Carlo Beach (*****).
On the next morning, you can head for
Èze-sur-Mer to visit its famous Fragonard or Galimard perfumeries to learn all
about this delicate ancestral craft. You can even create your own personal
fragrance and take it with you on your ascent to the peak with the Castle ruins
for lunch.
The afternoon will take you to Italy: San Remo,
barely a half-hour drive from Monaco, a Ligurian town where you can enjoy a
very special, very Italian atmosphere and dine on pasta with seafood, or just
pizza you can nibble as you stroll by the sea in the bustling evening ambience.
