EXPO 2020 DUBAI: the OPMC to record music for the Monaco Pavilion

Publication date: 07/01/2020
In a sign of the close involvement of Monegasque organisations in EXPO 2020 DUBAI, the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra is already doing its bit to fly the flag for the Principality!
Conductor Kazuki Yamada has agreed to record the music for the Monegasque Pavilion composed by Dédé Truqui, as well as the score for the final show written jointly with Didier Benetti.
Dédé Truqui performed for many years with the Aimé Barelli ensemble at evenings at the Sporting Club. The musician is well-known in the region for his love of Monegasque and Niçois traditions, expressed in his rich output of songs, poems, sketches and parodies.

His "Fantaisie monégasque" blends tradition with modernity, and features several motifs: "Tribute to Princess Grace" (Irish music), "Tribute to Prince Rainier", "The Rise of Prince Albert II" and a farandole that includes a nod to the Monegasque national anthem and the Marquisate of Baux.

Like the Pavilion, the Fantaisie showcases every facet of Monaco, providing a complete picture of the Principality.

EXPO 2020 DUBAI will take place from 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021.
