Monaco takes part in the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) 2021

Publication date: 19/11/2021
EWWR 2021 will take place from 20 to 28 November, and once again this year, the Principality's tourism partners are playing their part by organising a host of practical and ingenious awareness-raising actions!

First organised in Monaco in 2019, the European Week for Waste Reduction is a Europe-wide initiative that invites countries to promote actions aimed at raising awareness about sustainable resource management and waste, focusing on the "3 Rs": Reduce / Reuse / Recycle.

This year's chosen theme is "Circular Communities". It highlights the importance of human contact and solidarity, and the need for everyone to work together. The idea is to build a sustainable future, in which collaboration is key to waste reduction efforts.

Since Monaco first participated in 2019, numerous tourism industry stakeholders have gotten involved, organising actions internally or for customers and visitors.

Here are some of the actions being taken between 20 and 28 November:

"The Responsible Monaco Visitor Trail" - the Tourist & Convention Authority invites you to discover the Principality responsibly and sustainably.

COLUMBUS MONTE-CARLO:

"Collection of work uniforms for men and women" - in aid of the charity Cravate Solidaire, the Columbus Monte-Carlo is acting as a collection point in Monaco.

"Meat-Free Day" - on Monday 22 November, come and taste some high-quality vegetarian dishes and discover videos of veggie and zero-waste recipes on their networks at the Tavolo.

1 DAY, 1 CHEF, 1 "ANTI-WASTE" RECIPE
To mark  "Zero-Waste Barista" at the Oceanographic Museum, all week from 11 am to 1.30 pm, visitors will be invited for an eco-sustainable coffee break prepared by one of the Principality's famous Chefs.
