In this day and age a new craze for gardens has emerged. Without doubt, the Principality of Monaco and its surroundings harbour real treasures in this domain. Careful not to lose its roots under urban development, the Principality has established a solid policy of garden and park development, with more than 250,000 m2 for a city-state of 195ha, which puts its second in Europe, just after Vienna. Everywhere precious rare species mix in harmony with flowers and plants symbolically simple and fresh.

This «extraordinary garden», bringing together several million species of plants known as «succulents», was opened in 1933 and was boldly planted on the rocky mountainside where it blooms superbly; it has today become the object of worldwide admiration. It is the kingdom of nature’s exuberance, its unusualness and surrealism.
60m below ground, a prehistoric cave reveals its spectacular stalagmites and stalactites formed over millennia!
Opens daily:
- 15th May to 15th September, 9am – 7pm;
- 16th September to 14th May, 9am – 6pm or until night fall
Closed 19th November and 25th December.

A small lake bordered by palms and olive trees, laid out over an area of almostfour hectares, presents a charming space full of serenity in the Fontvieille area, where following a footpath, you will discover many contemporary sculptures.
The Princess Grace Rose Garden is an area of calm and serenity where the scent of some 4,000 roses hangs in the air.
CAUTION :
In the run up to the 30th anniversary of the Princess Grace Rose Garden in Fontvieille, the Department of Urban Amenities (DAU) has started a major project to redesign this floral area, which will be enlarged by around 1,500 m2.
These changes will make it necessary to close the Rose Garden for almost a year.
