16th Monte-Carlo Rally for New Energy Vehicles

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of this event, which is devoted to New and Renewable Energy, the Organising Committee of the Automobile Club of Monaco has chosen a brand new route as compared to previous years.

The 2015 Monte-Carlo Rally for New Energy Vehicles will include a fourth town at the start.  Following its application, Montauban was selected and will join the two other French towns, Annecy le Vieux and Clermont-Ferrand, as well as Lugano, (Switzerland).

Administrative and technical checks will be carried out in these towns on Wednesday 18 March 2015.

Competitors whose entry in the 16th Monte-Carlo Rally for New Energy Vehicles has been approved will set off on Thursday 19 March 2015 in the direction of Gap, a new stage town, where they will arrive that evening after completing various Concentration Routes, with distances varying between 478 km (297 miles) (Annecy-le-Vieux), 529 km (329 miles) (Lugano), 544 km (338 miles) (Clermont-Ferrand) and 577 km (359 miles) (Montauban).

The sporting festivities will begin in earnest on Friday 20 March 2015 in the Departments of the des Hautes-Alpes (05) and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence (04).  To begin the "Gap-Monaco" Common Leg, a new regularity stage (zone de régularité (ZR) will be introduced for the first time in the Bès Valley – "Verdaches – Digne-les-Bains" (26.40 km) (16.4 miles).  After an hour's regrouping in Digne-les- Bains, there will be two other new regularity stages - "Peyroules – Thorenc" (29.81 km) (18.52 miles) via the Col de Bleine and "Gréolières – Vence" (32.76 km) (20.35 miles), passing through the authentic and historic village of Coursegoules, before the competitors return to the Principality of Monaco.

The final stage will take place on Saturday 21 March 2015, in the setting of the hinterland of the Alpes-Maritimes Department (06), where contestants will compete in four regularity stages – "Levens – Saint-Jean-la-Rivière" (9.26 km) (5.75 miles),  "Lantosque – Luceram" (20.20 Km) (12.55 miles), "Coaraze – Sospel" (46.23 Km) (28.72 miles) and "Sospel – La Bollène-Vésubie" (30.68 Km) (19.06 miles).   Note that the contestants will return to the Port de Monaco twice, for a mid-day regroup (at 11.30 a.m.) and to return to the Parc Fermé in the paddock in the early evening (7 p.m.)

The manoeuvrability test area, set out on the South Dock (Darse Sud) of the Port of Monaco, will be held as a demonstration on the morning of Sunday 22 March 2015.  It will be followed by the traditional Closing Lunch and Prize Awards in the elegant Salle de la Mer (Sea Room) at the Fairmont Hotel.

Finally, a village for "partners," situated near the Parc Fermé in Monaco, will be open to the public throughout the event.

The programme features a number of exhibitions, test drives and activities on the theme of the car of tomorrow and sustainable development.
