Open Days at the Monte-Carlo Opera
Discover the opera on 14 and 15 February 2014
The Opera is having an Open Day on 14 and 15 February 2014 - two opportunities for a wide audience to take a look at the creative processes behind an operatic production.
Friday 14 February at 8 p.m.: Stage and orchestra rehearsal of "L'elisir d'amore," open to the public.
The singers and musicians rehearse the show act by act, led by the conductor and director. They ensure that the music, voices and staging all go together perfectly. Apart from the costumes and make-up, all elements of the show are included.
On Saturday 15 February at 2.30 p.m.: Italian Run-through of "L'elisir d'amore," open to the public.
A rehearsal known as an "Italian run-through" takes place with the soloists and chorus on stage and the orchestra in the pit. There is no acting, and the cast are not in costume. To test the sound balance, the performers sing at the top of their voices for the first time.
Tickets giving free admission to these rehearsals can be collected from the booking office in the Casino Atrium from 6 February 2014.
