Concert of Sacred Music, 15 May 2013 with the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra (OPMC)

Monaco Cathedral is playing host to Philip Pickett and Olivier Vernet for a concert at 8 pm

Philip Pickett is the musical director and founder of the world-renowned New London Consort and Musicians of the Globe.

He began his musical career as a trumpet player, becoming one of the leading British musicians, playing as a soloist with great ensembles in the United Kingdom and elsewhere in Europe.

Over the past ten years, he has embarked on a new career as guest conductor and has conducted modern symphonies and chamber music orchestras, as well as opera companies in the Classical, Romantic and Baroque repertoires.

Olivier Vernet's exceptional career fulfilled the promise of the many distinctions he was awarded during his studies with Gaston Litaize at the National Regional Conservatory of St-Maur des Fossés, with Marie-Claire Alain at the National Regional Conservatory of Rueil-Malmaison and with Michel Chapuis, in whose class he was awarded first prize for organ at the Paris Conservatory.  Now recognised as one of the most brilliant representatives of the French school of organ players, he has an international career and is invited to the greatest festivals.  He is also artistic director of the Monaco International Organ Festival and the Mougins Organ Festival.
