The Oceanographic Museum Celebrates Spring – Program of Activities from 11 April to 10 May 2015

The Oceanographic Museum is celebrating springtime with many different activities during the school holidays!  Spring is a time for love, when our little fish lay eggs and give birth to some magnificent marine species.  Fun, educational workshops await you, in which the secrets of our aquariums will be revealed.

SPECIAL "SPRINGTIME" ACTIVITIES

Whose Egg is This?
Springtime is the beginning of a time for love, even under water!  For many species that reproduce by laying eggs, it’s the time for nuptial parades, dances and mating.  Whether they're round, rectangular or exotically shaped, these little eggs are full of surprises.  An activity for children of all ages.
Every day at 3.15 p.m. and 4.15 p.m. - Meet in the Albert Ier Room (Level 1)

Drawing Workshop:  "Draw Me a Shark"*
Sharpen your pencils – and your eyes!  This introductory drawing workshop is an opportunity to seek out some specimens in the aquariums and learn how to capture them – not with a view to eating them, but with an artist's eye!
Supplement of 5 € per person, 10 people maximum per session, NO booking.  Drawing materials provided.
Every day from Saturday 25 April to Sunday 10 May, except Monday 4 May.  Workshops at 1.30 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4.30 p.m. – Meet in the Entrance Hall (Level 0)

Meet the Tortoises
Who's hiding under the third largest shell in the world? Come and find out on the panoramic terrace.  An activity leader will tell you all about the spurred tortoises that arrived at "Tortoise Island" in 2012 and are now reproducing at the Museum.  You can also meet the little tortoises that were born in 2014.
Every day at 5.15 p.m. – Meet on the panoramic terrace (Level 2)

YOU'LL ALSO FIND ...

The Touch Pool*
Touch a starfish, feel the prickles of a sea urchin, stroke a baby shark from the Mediterranean … For 45 minutes, thanks to our activity leaders, come and learn with your hands!
Supplement of 5 € per child (3 to 12 years of age), maximum of 15 children per session, NO booking.
Times, tickets and further information available at the ticket offices and on www.oceano.org

"The Heart of the Ocean" Beats for You
The Oceanographic Museum has decked out the Whale Room and its skeletons with a sound and light show.  Let yourself be transported by this magical experience and come and discover or rediscover the large skeletons of the fin whale, the magnificent killer whale and the narwhal as you have never seen them before, with a new sound and light show orchestrated by Xavier Perret and original music by Clovis Schneider.
You can see it, hear it and find out all about it every hour throughout the day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Stroking Pool
Gently and with respect, come and enjoy special contact with the sharks!  Slip you hand into the water and stroke the back or the side of a striped leopard shark.  An unforgettable experience!
Every day from 10 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. – Temporary exhibition room (Level 0)

Feeding Time for the Fish
Don't miss the Lagoon residents' daily meal!  This spectacular time is a unique opportunity to chat to our staff.  Sitting in front of the aquarium with their eyes riveted on the fish, the children won't miss a single moment.
Every day at 11.15 a.m. – Meet at the Aquarium (Levels -1 and -2)

Discovering Piranhas
Come and discover the famous piranhas … With this activity, you can find out all there is to know about these carnivorous fish, whose reputation is the subject of the wildest legends.
At 1.15 p.m. – Meet at the Aquarium in the Tropical Room (level -2)

The Colors of the Reef
Come and discover the underground world of the coral reefs.  A not-to-be-missed activity and a chance to discover the amazing beauty of tropical species and the secrets of the Museum's most colorful aquariums.   The fish will be fed at this time.

Gad Elmaleh at the Sporting Monte Carlo on 10 July

Bring your friends and family to applaud Gad Elmaleh in his new show at the Sporting Monte Carlo on 10 July to raise funds for the Fight Aids Association.

Five years after "Papa est en haut" ("Daddy's Upstairs"), Gad Elmaleh is back!  France's favorite comedian is offering a more intimate one-man-show with a plain and simple set.

In "Sans Tambour … " ("Without a Drum"), Gad Elmaleh brilliantly analyses the little problems of everyday life and reveals some very personal aspects of his own life.  He asks deep questions about subjects that he has not previously addressed, such as his childhood, religion and fame.

Once again, Gad Elmaleh demonstrates his unique gift of observation, which we have seen since the start of his career.  This show combines effective stand-up comedy with eloquent theatricality, along with his inimitable use of gestures.
