Georgy Shishkin exhibition at Monaco Cathedral

As part of the Year of Russia in Monaco, Russian painter Georgy Shishkin presents his exhibition “Russian Dreams” from 12 August until the end of September 2015 at Monaco Cathedral

Russian painter Georgy Shishkin, a resident of Monaco, is presenting his exhibition “Russian Dreams” from 12 August to the end of September 2015 at Monaco Cathedral.

The exhibition is open every day between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m., and includes 20 works of art.

Georgy Shishkin began working in Monaco in 1995.

He has been resident in the Principality since 1998. He is best known as the creator of the “Russian Dreams” cycle of paintings, a master portrait painter and a postage stamp designer for the Principality of Monaco.

Georgy Shishkin is considered to have achieved great heights in his pastel works.

He has developed his own technique using a unique preparation which ensures that the pastel will adhere.

This has enabled him to expand the possibilities of the medium and obtain unusual qualities: luminosity, transparency and fluidity, creating the impression that the surface of the painting is fluttering.

Through this interaction between the medium, the gesture and the mobility of emotion, Shishkin has succeeded in tackling spiritual issues.

Shishkin starts by organising his paintings in the form of abstract compositions of splashes of colour, which gradually suggest characters to him. “This is how a spiritual thought is translated into an image” (Vladislav Krasnovski).
