Ji LIU, pianist.
Born in China, Ji LIU took up piano at the age of three and pursued his studies at the Shanghai Conservatory.
At the age of 13, he won an international competition which gave him the opportunity to perform a recital at Carnegie Hall in New York.
This was a decisive moment in his life. He left China to settle in Europe in order to devote himself entirely to music.
He studied piano with Dmitri Bashkirov at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid, and with Christopher Elton at the Royal Academy of Music.
In 2014–2015, his first solo album, Piano Reflections, along with his second album, Piano Encores, topped sales charts in northern Europe.
He was the biggest-selling classical breakthrough artist of 2014.
