Fairmont Monte Carlo

Green Partnership Program

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts was founded on an enduring connection to the land and communities where we do business.

In 1990, our Canadian hotels pioneered the Green Partnership program—a comprehensive commitment to minimizing our hotels’ impact on the planet, which was accompanied by a guidebook on sustainable best practices in the lodging industry. This green philosophy has grown to become a core value of our company.

The Fairmont Green Partnership program allows our eco-friendly hotels to meet and exceed guest expectations of operational sustainability. It focuses on improvements in waste management, sustainability, and energy and water conservation at our properties, and innovative community outreach programs involving local groups and partnerships.

Only one year after our “Green Dream Team” was established, the Monegasque community acknowledged and appreciated Fairmont’s commitment in sustainability. In December 2008, the Junior Chamber of Commerce of Monaco honoured our program in sustainability with the 1st price in the category “Large Companies”, in 2011, the Monaco Government Tourist and Convention Authority awarded our efforts with the Price of Excellence.

Our efforts on a local basis, supported by our Canadian offices and our main partners, such as the Prince Albert II Foundation of Monaco, the Monegasque Company of Hygiene, Soget/Veolia (management of marine energy), WWF, different departments of the Monegasque Government ( Education National Youth and Sports, Monaco Government Tourist and Convention Authority, and Directorate of Environmental Affairs) contribute to the fame of the Fairmont Monte Carlo as environmental and opinion leader.
