A Focus on Rachmaninoff at the Inaugural Concert of the Monaco Philharmonic Orchestra's Russian Season

On Sunday 19 October 2014, the Philharmonic Orchestra is presenting an all-Russian concert featuring the pianist Evgeny Kissin

The composer Sergei Rachmaninoff will be showcased in the inaugural concert of the Russian Season on 19 October 2014 at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco.

The concert will begin with "Vocalise for Violin and Orchestra" performed by the Philharmonic Orchestra's supersoloist Liza Kerob.   This work is part of a series of 14 melodies (or Romances) written in 1912.

This will be followed by "The Symphonic Dances," the composer's last major work, written in 1941, and finally, the Piano Concerto No. 2, written in 1901, which remains Rachmaninoff's best-known work.
