Formed in 1971, the group initially consisted of four sisters aged 12 to 17: Deborah, Joan, Kim and Kathy. Their career really took off two years later with the song “Mama Never Told Me”. Curiously, it was over the pond in the UK that the single proved most successful, making it into the top 20 of the charts. However, the group went through a period of stagnation and, just as the four sisters were about to call it a day, their record company put them in the hands of producers Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers. Immediately, the pairing with Chic bore fruit and the track “Le Freak” reached the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100
Their biggest hit "We Are Family" was released in 1979, and is now considered a true standard of the Uptown Funk era.
For the first time, and just a few months after Nile Rodgers & Chic took to the stage of the Salle des Étoiles, it's the turn of Sister Sledge to light up Monte-Carlo this 14 August!
