Immortal stars: sons, nephews, brothers, cousins… The Gipsy Kings draw their strength from two gypsy families with impressive ancestry. On the one hand, there is the Reyes family, originally from Arles, with Nicolas, singer and figurehead of the historic Gipsy Kings channel, not to mention his brothers Patchaï, Canut, Pablo and André. Then there is the Baliardo family, which has its roots in Montpellier and includes Tonino, the solo guitarist, and his brothers Diego and Paco. This family also happens to be that of Manitas de Plata, whose real name is Ricardo Baliardo
The Gipsy Kings recorded two albums: Bamboléo and Djobi, Djoba. Both were huge hits in France and across the world, and paved the way for a string of successes. Singing in Spanish, their style is a blend of flamenco, pop and a variety of cheerful tunes such as the Catalan rumba.
