"The Conference of the Birds" is one of the best-known Sufi masterpieces by Persian poet Farid al-din Attar. The poem tells of the birds' quest to find the legendary Simorgh, to become their sovereign. Instead, they discover that they themselves are the Simorgh. "The Conference of the Birds" is about our humanity, our suffering, and our beauty, and describes with great theatre and poetry the paths we should take throughout our lives, in order to truly discover ourselves.
This is a play of images and words, accompanied by realistic masks custom-made by Kuno Schlegelmich.
