In Monaco, Karl Lagerfeld has Designed a "Constructivist" Rose Ball
The Rose Ball will take place on Saturday 29 March 2014 in the Salle des Etoiles at the Sporting Monte-Carlo
The Rose Ball is held in aid of the Princess Grace Foundation, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover, the President of the Foundation, asked her friend Karl Lagerfeld to design the 2014 Rose Ball.
Together, they decided to create a "Russian" ball, inspired by the Constructivist period, and pay tribute to Kazimir Malevitch, the main inspiration behind this movement.
Constructivism is an artistic, cultural and spiritual movement that originated in Russia in the early 20th century (1917-1921). It revolutionised art by promoting minimalist abstraction and geometric use of space, using mainly coloured elements such as circles, rectangles and straight lines.
As every year, there will be a tombola with numerous prizes donated by luxury brands in Monaco that are loyal to the Rose Ball and the Princess Grace Foundation.
The "Constructivist" Rose Ball will bring the cultural richness of this movement back to life in a year when the Principality and the Groupe Monte-Carlo S.B.M will be celebrating their historic links of friendship with Russia.
