All set for the 92nd Monte-Carlo Rally? The world’s top drivers
are in their starting blocks and ready to race!
This iconic event is hotly anticipated, and not just in the
rallying world! The Monte-Carl’ officially kicks off the new World
Rally Championship, after the 2023 season ended on the roads of Japan last
November. But its legendary history makes it a special occasion that draws
interest from motor sport fans everywhere, and not just rally aficionados.
The cars taking part in this year’s race can be admired from 4.30 pm on Casino Square, offering a truly unique sight, before Sébastien Ogier and co’ jump behind the wheel and set off for the fabled mountain passes and winding roads of the back country for a first stage that will take place at night.
The drivers can expect to navigate their way
through no fewer than 14 passes along 17 special stages covering five different
French départements. The daunting route
will culminate with a final stage via the Col de Turini, one of the most
celebrated sectors of the Monte-Carlo Rally and the whole sport.
This year, the
organisers have tweaked the route, sending the drivers to higher altitudes in
the hope of seeing more snow than in previous editions. All of which should
ensure a thrilling spectacle!
France’s Sébastien Ogier, the eight-time world
champion, is once again the favourite and is aiming for a tenth victory on the
roads of his backyard. But Belgium’s Thierry Neuville, who won the race in
2020, will be doing everything he can to lift the trophy outside the Casino de
Monte-Carlo, in a presentation ceremony
like no other schedule for 4.15 pm on Sunday 28.
