In Monaco, it’s recommended to leave your
vehicle in one of the many public car parks. The Principality has 40 car parks.
All
of the car parks are underground and staffed by security guards, making them
the best option for parking your vehicle with peace of mind. Although there is
a charge for using most of the car parks in Monaco, payment is hassle-free and
relatively inexpensive. All of the "Monaco Parking" car
parks offer one hour’s free parking.
If
you are visiting Monaco for a limited time, the brand new Parking des Salines car
park at the western entrance to the city has 1,800 spaces across 15 levels, and
is an affordable option at just €7.50 for a half-day, and €11.00 for a
full day. The car park also offers easy access to other modes of transport for
getting around in Monaco itself, including two Monabike stations,
a free return journey for five people on the "Xpress 1" and
"Xpress 2” shuttle buses, and pedestrian access to several districts. The
city centre (Place d'Armes) is just 15 minutes away, while the new Les Salines
pedestrian tunnel makes it a short walk from the Exotic Garden to Avenue
Pasteur, where you can hop across the new Wurtemberg footbridgeto La Condamine
and Fontvieille.
Every
day, around 100,000 vehicles enter and leave the Principality. You can obtain real-time updates on traffic
conditions on Monaco’s main roads from the Info Trafic website.
Only vehicles registered in the
Principality or the French département of Alpes Maritimes are permitted
to enter the Old Town district.
Do not leave your vehicle just anywhere, as
it will be towed quickly and you will need to reclaim it from the Police
Station in Fontvieille.
