A worthy successor to Emil Gilels and educated in the great schools of Russia, Denis Matsuev is a classical piano virtuoso. Yes, you read that right: Classical piano. After winning a first prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition at 23, the Colossus of Irkutsk won over the world with his athletic performances of Rachmaninoff and Shostakovitch.Denis Matsuev will be accompanied by Alexander Zinger on drums, Andrey Ivanov on double bass, Aidar Gaynullin on accordion and Sofia Turina on saxophone.
