"The Forbidden City" exhibition from 14 July to 10 September 2017 at the Grimaldi Forum
Following the success of the exhibition "The China of the Forbidden Emperor" in 2001, the Grimaldi Forum is organising a new exhibition on the theme of the Forbidden City.
From 14 July to 10 September 2017, life at the court of the emperors and empresses of China, particularly the last imperial Qing dynasty, will be showcased. Two hundred exceptional works from the former palace of the Chinese sovereigns will be on display, as well as loans from the leading European and American collections.
The exhibition is designed as a visitors' trail, from the rooms of the Palace to the gardens of the Forbidden City. The route passes among the iconic places of the city palace (The Temple of Heaven, the throne room, the Buddhist temple, tea pavilion, etc.) and will immerse visitors in the history of this age-old civilisation.
