The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco

Conducted by Gustavo Dudamel – Co-production with the Monte-Carlo Opera

Friday 12 January 2018 at 8 pm, Salle des Princes.

This legendary orchestra, which was founded in 1842, gave the first performances of Brahms's 2nd Symphony, Bruckner's 4th Symphony and Richard Strauss's "The Woman Without Shadows."

The live broadcasts of the New Year concerts, watched by more than 50 million viewers, give the Orchestra unique visibility.

Its incomparable musical identity is due to the fact that its conductors are chosen via a system of internal co-option, which guarantees excellence and a unique and idiomatically Viennese style.

Only the best have the opportunity to conduct this Orchestra - from Wilhelm Furtwängler, Karl Böhm, Herbert von Karajan and Claudio Abbado to Zubin Mehta.

In Monaco, it is the young Venezuelan prodigy Gustavo Dudamel who has this privilege.  This renowned conductor is inspired by the conviction that music is a vector that unites and inspires people, especially young people from all walks of life.  He therefore promotes music wherever he can and by whatever means modern technology offers him.

The Monte Carlo Opera, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and Gustavo Dudamel all benefit from the valuable support of Rolex, without whom this special partnership could not take place.
