Every year, the Monegasque Athletics Federation and
its President, H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, strive to put on the finest
sporting spectacle for the many spectators at the stadium, in a friendly
atmosphere.
The first Herculis EBS meeting in Monaco was held in
September 1987 at the Stade Louis II, then brand new. The Monegasque
Athletics Federation (FMA) seeks above all to promote athletics, in a state
governed by a Sovereign with a profound attachment to sporting values, and keen
to make the Principality “a sporting centre of great importance”. Prince Albert II
himself has been President of the FMA since its creation. Since joining the IAAF
Diamond League in 2010, the meeting has always been an elite event, and was
ranked the world’s top meeting in 2011, 2014, 2015 and 2018. Herculis even
earned the highest score of all time in 2018. On the day of the event, the Stade
Louis II also hosts the 1000m Herculis ahead of the Meeting, while the
traditional firework display rounds off the evening.
The biggest
stars in world athletics will be at the Monaco’s Stade Louis II in August.
