AS Monaco officially opens two new cutting edge facilities

Publication date: 21/09/2022
At the beginning of September, the club founded in 1924 and preparing to celebrate its centenary, officially opened its new performance centre and its training centre, dubbed La Diagonale, at a ceremony attended by H.S.H. Prince Albert II.

A new chapter in the rich history of AS Monaco opened at the start of September, in the presence of a host of very special guests. In a unique and breathtaking setting in La Turbie, on the heights above the Principality, H.S.H. Prince Albert II, the club's management, and several of its former stars including Didier Deschamps, Youri Djorkaeff, and Claude Puel, came together on the main pitch of the training centre to discover this new architectural gem.

Inspired by Europe's most cutting edge training centres, this new facility is designed specifically to address the three key pillars of AS Monaco's performance: training, nutrition, and recovery. Following an inaugural speech by the club's number one supporter, His Serene Highness, the event continued with a series of activities and events in the Monegasque sunshine, including participation in a collective work on canvas created by local artist Mr One Teas, a freestyle show by champion Mélody Donchet, and a jazz concert. All in the presence of current players and Monegasque Formula 1 star Charles Leclerc.

Three days later, AS Monaco opened its new living space, La Diagonale, in Cap d’Ail opposite the Stade Louis II. Delivered and operated by the Academy since August 2020, the building plays host to some 70 budding footballers and 60 technical staff every day. The opening had previously not taken place owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. A modern facility par excellence, whose name directly references the diagonal stripe on the AS Monaco shirt created by Princess Grace in 1961, this new training centre will raise the performance bar even further and enable the club's young talents with class-leading infrastructrures dedicated to their development.
