Among the many unmissable events and activities in the Principality throughout the year, some exhibitions are running this autumn for a limited time only. Here are five of them!
Florilège des Jardins de Monaco
Just a few days left! A blend of visual and written poetry, the exhibition "Florilège
des jardins de Monaco" looks at the gardens of the Principality from a whole new perspective. Visitors are transported by the watercolours of painter Tony Szabo from the Exotic Garden to the Rose Garden, via the Japanese Garden, and the gardens of the Casino and the Rock. The paintings are accompanied by the pen of the poet Gilles Montelatici, who illustrates the atmosphere and unique impressions of each garden in the form of short poems, like Japanese haiku.
Runs from 7 October to 5 November at the Maison de France de Monaco.
Albert I: A Different Perspective
Organised in collaboration between the Prince's Palace Archives and the Audiovisual Institute, the exhibition "Albert I: A Different Perspective" shows the explorer Prince in a new light. The 28 photographs of Prince Albert
I, which form the second part of the exhibition, depict his hugely active and productive life, alongside the Native American chief Plenty Coups, aboard the Princesse
Alice or at the building site of the Oceanographic Museum.
Runs from 10 October to 29 November at the Galerie des Pêcheurs.
Monaco On
Stage – 100 Years of History
Monaco and music: a special relationship and a love affair that has lasted for more than a century... The exhibition "Monaco On Stage – 100 Years of History" is an immersive experience with previously unseen content featuring the stars to have illuminated the Principality: from Josephine Baker to Prince, and from Lady Gaga to Alicia Keys! Organised by the Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with Monte-Carlo
Société des Bains de Mer.
Runs from 15 October to 31 December at Quai Antoine-Ier.
Polar Encounters
After sea turtles in 2017 and coral reefs in 2020, polar wildlife forms the subject of the latest exhibition by Monegasque artist Michel Aubéry. Snow foxes, stoats, and humpback whales are the new protagonists of Michel Aubéry's creations. The forty or so paintings illustrate both the diversity of species found in the polar regions, and the need to preserve and protect their natural habitat.
Runs from 17 October to 20 November at the Oceanographic Museum.
Raoul
Gunsbourg
To mark the centenary of the death of Prince Albert Ier, a complete exhibition is dedicated to the man he appointed director of the Opéra de Monte-Carlo: the iconic Raoul Gunsbourg. While Gunsbourg's period at the helm of the Opera was notable for its longevity - nearly 60 years - it was also important in the way it introduced Monegasque audiences to many world firsts, including Ravel's L’Enfant and les sortilèges, Puccini's La Rondine, Hélène by Saint-Saëns, and Pénélope by Fauré.
Runs from 14 to 25 November at the Salle Indigo of the Grimaldi Forum.
