The summer has arrived in Monaco, and with it comes a host of
opportunities to experience great live music. Here are just some of the places
that should be on every music-lover’s list of places to be this summer season.
Concerts at the Prince’s
Palace by the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra
Every summer, the famous Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra relocates
its prowess to the heart of the Cour d’Honneur of the Prince’s Palace, where it
stages performances unlike any other. The Philharmonic first played at the
Palace back in 1959, rekindling a secular tradition of the Grimaldi family. The
orchestra sets up between the two 17th century staircases, and the magic is
instant. The beauty of classical music and the magnificence of the Prince’s
Palace combine to create something quite extraordinary…
The summer season will begin with a tribute to Rachmaninov and will continue
with performances of works by Strauss, Ravel, Mozart, Brahms, and Beethoven.
This prestigious event will be particularly poignant this year, with
commemorations in 2023 marking the cententary of the birth of Prince Rainier
III.
Monte-Carlo
Summer Festival
In Monaco, it’s not just the sky and the restaurants that glitter with
stars. Every summer, they align in the Principality to offer entertainment and
excitement with the unforgettable concerts of the Monte-Carlo Summer Festival.
Since 1974, some of the world’s most famous names have performed in the
prestigious Salle des Etoiles or the Opéra Garnier: Frank Sinatra, Céline
Dion, Cirque du Soleil, Tina Turner, and more recently John Legend, Jamie
Cullum, Rihanna, and Mika…
This summer, Chris Isaak will be bringing his wicked game to open the 2023
festival, and will be followed by other famous names including Ricky Martin
(backed by a symphonic orchestra, no less), Norah Jones, Seal, and Sting! Fight
Aids evening will host Michael The Magic of Michael Jackson, an incredible show
in tribute to the king of pop. And Robbie Williams will be providing the music
at the Gala of the Monaco Red Cross, which this year celebrates its 75th
anniversary.
Music bars and restaurants
The summer season means music-filled evenings at bars and restaurants
all over the Principality... starting with Em Sherif Monte-Carlo. Serving a
subtle blend of Lebanese and Mediterranean cuisine at the prestigious Hôtel de
Paris, the restaurant hosts musical evenings with DJ and singer, providing the
perfect accompaniment to your gastronomical journey... all with unrivalled
views of the magnificent Med, of course!
The beachside place to be was directly inspired by the famous saxophonist
Barney Wilen, who was born in nearby Nice. A timeless hub of casual
conviviality in the Larvotto district since 2001, La Note Bleue serves up a
winning combination of Mediterranean-style cuisine, refreshing cocktails, and
high-quality live music. This summer, La Note Bleue is holding its own
mini-festival, inviting a selection of artists until the end of August!
Muse…. No, not one of the Greek goddesses, nor the British rock band,
but rather the exclusive summer venue at the Méridien Beach Plaza. Nestling
beneath the pine trees overlooking the Mediterranean, a meal at Muse is a
special experience, whether for a sunny lunchtime or a chic and festive dinner.
The ideal place to take a moment and savour the dolce vita, and after dining
you’ll want to continue the evening with music courtesy of a house DJ, plus
live concerts on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays!
To celebrate the summer
solstice and world music day, the Principality is mixing it up!
US rock, French pop, classical music, South-American ambience, from La
Condamine to Port Hercule via Larvotto... Monaco is tuning up for a perfectly
orchestrated celebration of all things musical this 21 June!
