Herculis Meeting, 18 July 2014, Monaco
The world’s best athletes will meet at the Louis II Stadium for the tenth stage of the Diamond League
Last year, the Herculis Meeting gave many athletes the opportunity to produce world-class performances. It was on that evening that Asbel Kiprop became the fourth fastest runner of all time.
This year, the programme includes 16 events: eight for men (200m, 400m, 1,500m, 110m H, 3,000m SC, high jump, long jump, discus) and eight for women (100m, 800m, 5,000m, 400m H, pole vault, triple jump, javelin, shot put). An additional event, the men’s 800m, is also planned.
The usual 1,000m races will be held between 10 am and 6.30 pm.
The Herculis Meeting will conclude with the traditional musical fireworks display.
As part of the run-up to the Herculis 2014 meeting, there are plans to hold a pole-vaulting tour of Côte d’Azur beaches. The tour will hit the Promenade at Nice on Sunday 13 July, the beach at Villefranche-sur-Mer on Tuesday 15 July, Larvotto Beach in Monaco on Wednesday 16 July and Les Sablettes beach in Menton on Thursday 17 July.
The organisers advise spectators to make use of public transport, particularly the train, since agreements have been reached with SNCF for trains running to and from Nice. In order to improve access, for spectators arriving by car there will be a 3 euro parking fee in place from 12 pm in the following car parks: Louis II Stadium, St Antoine, Ecoles, Saint Nicolas, Port, Heliport and La Colle.
