I Masnadieri (The Bandits) was Giuseppe Verdi's first
opera to be created outside Italy.
The clamour created by his first Italian triumphs had aroused the
curiosity of impresarios all over Europe. The opera was performed successfully until the 1860s, after
which it disappeared from the operatic scene. This absence is an opportunity to rediscover the intoxicating
beauty of Verdi's numerous solos, the powerful lyricism of his duets and trios and
