Comic operas by Jacques Offenbach – "A Husband at the Door
"and "Mr. Cauliflower will be at Home on … "Saturday 13 October, at 8 pm and Sunday 14 October, at 3 pm Opéra de Monte-Carlo - Salle Garnier
With the participation of the students of the Queen Elizabeth
Music Chapel (Chapelle Musicale Reine-Elisabeth) under the aegis of José van
Dam, Master in Residence, accompanied on the piano by Kira Parfeveets,
organised by the Monte-Carlo Opera.
Inaugurated in 1939 by Queen Elisabeth of Belgium, the Chapelle
Musicale is a centre for higher artistic and cultural education, whose vocation
is to train the future elite of the international classical scene. Its artistic mission focuses on seven
disciplines, with sixty or so soloists in residence, supervised by
internationally renowned masters in residence. For the first time, the Monte-Carlo Opera will be host to
the young singers of the Chapelle Musicale, trained by José van Dam and Sophie
Koch.
They will perform a comic opera in a semi-staged format, which
will be an opportunity for them to present themselves to a Monegasque audience,
not only at the musical level but also at the level of dramatic art. With the help of a director, costumes, elements
of a stage set and an experienced accompanist, they will find that the stage of
this theatre, with its unique dimensions, is an ideal place to make the transition
between the intimacy of a place of learning and the dynamism of the
limelight. The title of the comic
opera will be determined in line with the vocal profiles of the artists
selected at the auditions, which will take place in June 2018.
