From the frost of Kiev to the sunshine of Ipanema, and from cosy, techicolour soul ballads to gleaming brass and vertiginous strings, "Les Sources" is a gentle, sun-drenched delight. This is Vanessa Paradis' seventh studio album since 1988's "M& J", and blends the fire that drives travellers with heartfelt emotions.
"I wanted this record to be bright, joyous, I wanted it to talk about nature, dreams and love, to follow different destinations. I thought of Paul Butler (lead singer of English band "The Bees"), as producer, for his sense of purity and that sound he brings, at once modern and sixties, my favourite soul period: Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, Al Green…"».
"All my albums are in my image, but this one, made in Los Angeles, so far from France, my friends, with a lot of free time, means I really threw myself into it. It was recorded in stages at the Sound Factory. I had the time, while I was in the studio, to think about the brass sections, the string sections, the choral melodies. It was a different and sometimes difficult path, but the results are all the more precious".
