All of the Hotels in the Principality Commit to Energy Transition

Publication date: 3/26/2018

All hotels in the Principality are committed to the energy transition.

On Friday 23 March 2018, a signing ceremony for the National Energy Transition Pact was held at the Grimaldi Forum, attended by Sustainable Development Directors and Managers and all the hotels in the Principality.

The aim:  to remind them of the objectives of the Pact and gain their support for a carbon-neutral Monaco.

In his speech, Jean-Luc Nguyen, Director of the Mission for Energy Transition, and Guy Antognelli, Deputy Director of Monaco Tourist and Convention Authority, recalled the importance of this project, which was wished for and supported by the Sovereign Prince.   Emphasizing that these signatures are part of their DNA and in line with their actions, he praised their dynamism, their motivation and, more generally, their commitment in the Principality and internationally.

The multiplier effect of the "Green is the new Glam " campaign, launched last November by the Monaco Tourist and Convention Authority, has also largely contributed to making Monaco a "green" destination in its own right.

Each hotel manager then stated how pleased and honored he or she was to be taking part in this signing ceremony.

As a reminder, the tourism sector, whose action extends over the long term, is of crucial importance in energy transition.  This signing, which is a symbol of the hotels' environmental heritage, is part of a continuity of commitment, dating back more than ten years in some cases.  A large majority of the establishments have had ISO 14001, Green Globe and Planet 21 certification for many years.  Their approach is focused on key issues in terms of energy transition, namely waste management, transport issues and, above all, customer responsibility.
