COPPÉL-i.A. by Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo

自星期四 2至星期日 5 一月 2020
Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo presents Coppél-i.A., the new creation by Jean-Christophe Maillot marking his return to grand-scale narrative ballet. Thursday 2, Friday 3, Saturday 4 January, at 8 pm and Sunday 5 January, at 4 pm, Salle des Princes of the Grimaldi Forum Monaco

Choreographer-Director Jean-Christophe Maillot has taken the famous Romantic play exploring the world of machines, to reflect on the development of artificial intelligence in our modern society.

Coppél-i.A. by Jean-Christophe Maillot takes us on a journey into a near future where two young lovers, Frantz and Swanhilda, discover the pleasures of the flesh, in a society obsessed with progress, safety and hygiene. As their erotic enlightenment begins, an artificial being comes into their lives, sowing doubt and causing them to question everything they believed they knew about love. Is our ideal partner the flesh and blood being we have always know, or the abstract being that questions our very humanity?
