Since 1984, the "printemps des arts" has invited audiences to rediscover "classical" musicFrom Friday 15 March to Sunday 14 April 2019, Principality of Monaco

Although it has been around for over 30 years, every edition of the festival is unique, by virtue not just of the music itself, the artistic projects and performances of all kinds, but also a programme that is fresh and new every season.
Altogether, 22 concerts and a film will be staged between 15 March and 14 April 2019, at nine iconic venues across the Principality. For this 35th edition, the festival's composer in residence Alexandros Markeas will be presenting his works to the region's young musicians.

The 2019 festival, under the Presidency of H.R.H. The Princess of Hanover, will focus on the lesser known aspects of the concerto and string quartet, demonstrating that these genres are not "classical". Audiences will discover how Beethoven's quartets, considered to be the absolute classic standard, explore some of the most adventurous forms, sounds and themes in the history of music. The piano will also be on the programme. Leaping unbridled into the repertoire reveals its less "classical", most surprising aspects.
This year, the Festival will also pay tribute to two 20th century figures: Mauricio Kagel and Karlheinz Stockhausen. Western tradition will also be present with unique Mongol songs, called "diphonic" for their ability to produce two sounds at once.

Finally, as every year, the Festival will feature a mystery tour. Take a bus for an unknown destination. The only guarantee is that you will be thrilled upon arrival by some wondrous music and places.
