Graduates' Exhibition

自星期六 29 六月至星期日 15 九月 2019,从9点到17点
Exhibition by Graduates of the Pavillon Bosio, Higher Institute of ArtFrom Saturday 29 June to Sunday 15 September 2019, from 9 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 5 pm, Exotic Garden of Monaco
A mountain bloom with eight petals. While the title of this exhibition channels the botanic garden metaphor, the eight graduates are firmly focused on more immaterial forms of imagery.

The works produced by this year's cohort include a considerable amount of video, mapping, YouTube tutorials, unlikely Google searches, and content gleaned from here and there. Such is the magic of the web. Though combed carefully by artists sensitive to its qualities, and are likely more adept than the previous generation at manipulating it with more hindsight.

The dense, complex and paradoxical matter stirred by these students is an inexhaustible supply of shapes, ideas, knowledge and stories. For those able to chart its depths using the right keywords, it represents a collective memory, disordered, wild. The counter to history as conceived of by institutions.

The role of a school of art is to tell the history of the great figures of the past, and to teach budding artists in the ways of placing themselves in that history. But isn't the challenge facing a young e-artist to define themselves in spite of history?
