The strong men of athletics and their female colleagues will get the ball rolling on the eve of the Herculis EBS Meeting on the prestigious Port Hercule, along which the Formula 1 Grand Prix winds its way.Thursday 19 July, from 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm, Quai Albert Ier
Entry to the competition will be free and open to all, offering spectators an opportunity to see the progress of Kevin Mayer. The French world decathlon champion will be learning alongside the best of the best the world has to offer, including American Ryan Crouser, the reigning Olympic champion, and current French number one Frédéric Dagée.
There will be a festival atmosphere surrounding the women's competition… With world champion Lijiao Gong from China, Anita Márton, Jamaican Danniel Thomas-Dodd (who came second in the World Indoor Championships last winter), reigning Olympic champion Michelle Carter from America, and New Zealander Valerie Adams, a double Olympic champion and quadruple world champion, Port Hercule has probably never felt more aptly named.
