The date is set. The Herculis EBS meeting will take place on Friday July 9 at the Stade Louis II and as ever, will feature a superb spectacle of top-class athletics.Friday July 9, 2021, from 7 pm to 10 pm Stade Louis II
Scheduled a fortnight before the Tokyo Olympics (July 23 - August 8), the 2021 edition of the prestigious Monegasque athletics meeting will feature 14 events. Among the athletes taking part will be Yulimar ROJAS (four times world triple jump champion), Gianmarco TAMBERI (current Italian high jump record holder), and Djilali BEDRANI (5th in the 300m steeplechase at the last world championships in Doha).
They will be joined by a host of other champions in the coming weeks, who will be heading for Monaco to compete in the Wanda Diamond League to be broadcast on CANAL+ (until the 2024 edition). In 2020, the Stade Louis II saw Uganda's Joshua Cheptegei set a new world record time in the 5000m.
The "Final 3": a new format for the javelin, triple jump and long jump
Created to give all spectators and TV viewers at home the chance to watch the competition's decisive attempts.
After the eight athletes participating have made their first five attempts under the existing rules, the top trio will face off in a "Final 3" round, each with a decisive attempt (making their jumps or throws in reverse order, i.e. 3-2-1). The result of this sixth attempt will determine the final placings. In the event of a tie (same score or two faults), the final placings will be decided on the basis of the best result obtained in the competition overall.
The meeting will feature 14 events:
Women: 200m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m steeplechase, pole vault, triple jump, javline
Men: 100m, 800m, 1500m, 400m hurdles, 3000m steeplechase, high jump, long jump
