Screening of the Australian film "Fantastic
birthday" by Rosemary Myers with Bethany Whitmore, Harrison Feldman, Amber
McMahon, Matthew Whittet and Imogen ArcherWednesday 13 June, at 7 pm, Médiathèque de Monaco (Sonothèque José Notari)
Greta Driscoll, an introverted young girl, is about to
turn 15. The only shadow on the
horizon - she doesn't want to leave the cosy, reassuring world of childhood,
a bubble in which she locks herself with her only school friend, Elliott. When her parents tell her that a big party
is being organised for her birthday, she panics.
Surprise success
"Fantastic Birthday" has been a great success
at festivals around the world. Rosemary
Myers and her team first presented the film at a festival in Adelaide (southern
Australia) and then in Berlin. The
director recalls: "The story
really resonates with the audience - it has been incredible to see how it was
received in different cinemas around the world, and especially to see how teenagers
really recognised themselves in it."
