Theatre - "Moby Dick"
Thursday 5, Friday 6, Saturday 7 December at 8 pm, and Sunday 8 December 2024 at 4.30 pm, Théâtre des Muses
Moby Dick is a true literary masterpiece, not just a fabulous adventure story but a study of obsession. Captain Ahab relentlessly pursues the whale that took his leg, driven by hatred and fury, dragging his crew with him into the maelstrom of his quest for vengeance. This captivating tale is one of a rite of passage, and is as deep as it is wise, asking existential questions about what it is to be human, and forging a new myth in the collective memory: that of the white whale.

Baroque Music - "Venite, Exultemus - Concerto Soave Ensemble"
Thursday 5 December 2024, at 8 pm, Chapelle de la Miséricorde
Romain Bockler and Jean-Marc Aymes have drawn on their creative powers to put together a wonderfully inventive programme dedicated to motets for bass voice and violins in the Italian style, somewhat rarer than those for soprano and above. André Campra and Nicolas Bernier are the finest exponents of this Italian style so popular in France in the early 18th century. Their motets are characterised by an appealing blend of French elegance and nobility, with Italian melodic invention, drama, and natural flair. The young baritone is the perfect man to perform these little-known masterpieces of 18th century French sacred music!
