The Gilbert & George Exhibition at the Villa Paloma Monaco is Extended
The New National Museum of Monaco has announced that the Gilbert & George exhibition is being extended until 30 November 2014
Since this summer, the New National Museum of Monaco has been showing a major exhibition of the work of Gilbert & George.
Forty-six works, retracing more than 40 years of artistic creation, are on display in a layout designed by the artists over the three floors of the Villa Paloma.
This exhibition of work by Gilbert & George, from a family collection based in Monaco, addresses a theme that the NMNM has explored several times – that of the "built" landscape as a subject of analysis and the interpretation of a changing society.
Thanks to this exceptional selection, visitors can see how Gilbert & George's work is comprised of both a personal world – intense, frightening, lonely, loving, abject, joyous, combative, provocative, crazy, calm, contemplative, vertiginous, passionate and modern - and a look at the past, present and future.
Gilbert & George met at St Martin's School of Art in London in 1967. Since then, they have been living and working together as a single artistic entity that is fiercely independent and entirely devoted to creating art. They do not follow any other fashion or artistic movement, doctrine, theory or artistic style.
