“Day of Legends” is a golf tournament that brings together over forty of the greatest legends of international football.
The 2013 edition will be held at the Monte-Carlo Golf Club on 2 and 3 September.
1998 world champion Christian Karembeu is ambassador of the event, while English footballer Teddy Sheringham, winner of the Champions League in 1999 with Manchester United, is its patron.
Joining them will be an impressive crowd of star players of the beautiful game. These players include Les Ferdinand for England, Peter Schmeichel for Denmark, Miguel Angel Nadal for Spain, David Ginola and Alain Boghossian for France, Pierre Van Hooijdonk for the Netherlands, Marco Simone for Italy, Pavel Nedvěd for the Czech Republic, Tomas Brolin for Sweden and Andriy Shevchenko for the Ukraine. No less than three recipients of the European Footballer of the Year ‘Ballon d’Or’ award!
The 2013 edition of the “Day of Legends” has sealed a partnership with Peace and Sport, a non-governmental organisation based in Monaco working towards the promotion of peace through sport.
The event's organisers, FIFPro and the djocá agency, have committed donating funds, through the “Day of Legends”, to Peace and Sport projects in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
