The Nutcracker returns to the stage at the Grimaldi Forum. The Stahlbaum family is still there with Clara (and her dolls' house) and Fritz (with his terrible character), but the German house is replaced by the studio of their parents' ballet company. In the traditional tale, Uncle Drosselmeyer is invited on Christmas Eve and gives Clara a Nutcracker. In this version, the uncle becomes Fairy Drosselmeyer, who brings an unexpected gift to the Company and its dancers: a new choreographer! A struggle ensures, evoking the famous battle of the toys.
Naturally, the Prince also makes an appearance, along with the fabulous voyage through the snowflakes and the arrival in the country of Confiturembourg with its festivities. All of these elements are reworked as part of the world of a ballet company. And what delights can the choreographer and dancers of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo dream of? Creating and interpreting ballets like Cinderella, La Belle, Le Songe, Romeo and Juliet…
