Michel Bourcier in concert for the 9th International Organ Festival in Monaco

Monaco Cathedral will host the “Orient et Occident” (“East and West”) concert on Sunday 27 July at 5 pm

Michel Bourcier has been the organist at Nantes Cathedral since 2007. He also teaches organ at Nantes Conservatory.

He performs as a soloist in France’s best organ venues and collaborates with a number of composers. He was the first person to perform the works for organ by Jean-Louis Florentz, who passed away in 2004 and performed his first two works: “Les Laudes” and “Debout sur le soleil”, which is dedicated to him.

The concert on Sunday 27 July 2014, entitled “Orient et Occident” (“East and West”) is a tribute to Jean-Louis Florentz, winner of the Prince Pierre of Monaco Foundation’s Musical Composition Prize in 1990. Florentz was fascinated by Africa – its stories and legends, dances and landscapes – and by Ethiopia, in his research into Christianity’s most ancient civilisations.
