Creative Workshop at the Monaco Cultural Associations Forum

On Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November, from 2 p.m. to 6.30 p.m., the Terres Méditerranéennes association is taking part in the Monaco Cultural Associations Forum at the Rainier III Auditorium.

At this event, works by Jean-Gaël Allavena, Cascin, Simone Cassini, Sylvia Cornet, Michèle Degabriel, Isabelle Frappier, Marjorie Gaggino, Heidi Kampf, Hermine Marais, Ewan McNab, Annabelle Pinon, Carla Rossi, Giancarlo Stella and Thierry Thomassin will be on show.

Terres Méditerranéennes will revisit the Monegasque tradition of "mariote e gali"* with a creative workshop for children using recycled materials.  A sale of "mariote e gali" will also be held at the stand.

Advent crowns, made in association with the UNESCO Club of the Collège Charles III, will be on sale on the stand of the Monegasque Federation of Clubs and Friends of UNESCO.

The money raised from the workshop and sale will help finance a project by the Namaste Onore a te association to benefit disadvantaged children in India.

*"Ë mariote e i gali" were small cakes made at Christmas with leftover dough from the "fougasse," "a fugassa" (a type of bread).  "A mariota" was the Christmas present given to little girls.  It was in the shape of a doll, similar to the gingerbread men sold at fairs.  Boys would receive a cockerel, "u galu."  Sugared almonds (i cunfeti) were used for the eyes and mouth.  The body was sprinkled with "fenuyëti" (sugared red and white aniseeds).
