Concert of Sacred Music at Saint-Charles Church, Monaco, on 9 November 2014

Musicians from the large brass and percussion ensemble MonacoBrass will perform works by Gabrieli and the Venetian School

MonacoBrass is a large ensemble of brass and percussion instruments played by musicians from the Philharmonic Orchestra.  The ensemble performs several times a year at various concerts and music festivals.

The musicians of the MonacoBrass ensemble are keen to share their passion for music, which will delight the purists while also reaching out a wider audience.

On Sunday 9 November 2014, MonacoBrass is giving a concert on the theme of "The Venetian School."

The Venetian School developed based on the musical activities at Saint Mark's Basilica between 1550 and 1610.

The heyday of the Venetian School was in the era of Andrea Gabrieli, and above all his nephew, Giovanni Gabrieli, who was taught music by his uncle and by Roland de Lassus.

This concert will feature works by Giovanni Gabrieli, alternating with works by similar composers.
