Every year, the Monegasque Athletics Federation and its
president, H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco strive to offer the many spectators
present at the stadium a quality sports show in a friendly atmosphere.
The Herculis EBS meeting in Monaco took place for the first time
in September 1987 at the Louis II Stadium, which at that time was brand new. The Monegasque Athletics Federation
seeks above all to promote athletics, as the country is governed by a sovereign
who is keen to promote sporting values and considers it a point of honour to
make the Principality "a sports centre of great importance." Prince Albert II himself has presided
over the FMA since it was first founded.
Since its entry into the AAF Diamond League in 2010, the meeting
has always been among the world's elite, ranking as the best meeting in the
world in 2011 and 2014. Herculis
even achieved the highest score of all time in 2015.
In the week before the meeting, many activities take place on
the beaches of the Côte d'Azur, such as the "Herculis Perche Tour." On the day of the event, the Louis II Stadium
is also host to the 1000m Herculis as a prelude to the Meeting, while the evening
is brought to a close by the traditional fireworks display.
